PAM OLIVER

September 16, 1953 - October 24, 2008
Unfortunately, for those who don't get the Columbia Paper, you may not have heard the sad news of the loss of our friend and class mate, Pam Oliver to cancer on Friday, October 24th.
Thanks to Rita for keeping in touch and making sure we got the news out and getting flowers to the family in the name of our class.
Life is too short to not make the most of the opportunities we have to care.
As I sat in the funeral service I was aware of the friend that never was. Not that I did not like Pam but I did not go out of my way to be a better friend. Now, although she lived in Columbia and we knew one another well enough to stop in the store isles to talk, I did not go to her quilting shop as I intended and now.... it's too late.
As glad as I am that she is not suffering with pain I am sad at the opportunity lost to know her better. She was a sweet lady.
Best to you all,
Carolyn
For those who might want to post on this blog but find it does not work, please send your post to me by E-mail and I will see that it gets on. Just put Blog Posting in the subject line so I don't delete it not knowing who you are.
Best to you all.
Carolyn

Opps NEW Date for planning meeting

So sorry but it works out best to push up the meeting to the 8th. Hope that works for those of you who had planned on seeing us at Addisons on the 14th. We thought it would be good not to have it too close to Tax day. There may be folks rushing to get things together at that time.

Here's the official notice sent to Alumni in the area. I hope you received in the mail.

Add your ideas at Addison’s for our next
FHS ’71 Class Reunion of 2011 planning meeting.

When: Tuesday April 8th.
Where: Addison’s Restaurant, 709 Cherry St.
Time: 6:00pm
Spouses are welcome and their ideas encouraged. We hope to make our 40th reunion worth making the trip for those who live far away. Spouses and the Class of ’72 are welcome.

Letting us know you can make it will help with restaurant accommodations.
Carolyn C. Hodill 445-7087 or 289-8517 cell
David Danuser 447-1971

If you can’t make it feel free to log on to our class Google site: http://fhs71hornets.blogspot.com/

Pass the word to all 71 or 72 FHS alumni in the Columbia area. Others are certainly welcome if you are in the area.

PS: Rememer the question first posted about wanting to find Pam Oliver. We ran into each other at the store and live about 2 miles from one another. Small world.
Hey Pam , it was great running into you at the store on Sunday. It was good to get a chance to talk with you briefly and I hope to see you at Addison's on April 8th at 6:00pm. Your ideas will be welcome. Thanks. CCH

IDEAS Please

Hi guys and gals,
As Spring arrives the Columbia area reunion committee hopefully will get to together for another meeting. (Hey Dave, can we meet at your home again. You all are the greatest hostes. Kent, maybe you could bring the bevrages again too. :-)
Time is passing and our opportunities to get organized for the 2011 reunion will start in earnest. We really do want to make the reunion something worthwhile for those who live far away to want to make the trip to attend. Does John Baker and his family still live in Florida?

Right now we need current contact information, addresses, E-mails or phone numbers.

Please contact either David Danuser or myself with ideas, information or requests for directions to the meeting, hopefully to be scheduled in late March or early April.

To make a comment to this page I think all you need do is click on the comment option at the bottom of this post. Hopefully we can start som fun communication on our site soon.

Thanks to all who read this and for the supportive comments I've received about this site. We just need to start talking ON the site together.
Tag your all it.

:-)

Getting Serious

OK GUYS It's time to start getting serious.
I'll be sending out information sheets so we can start preparing in earnest for the 2011 FHS Class of 71 reunion.
We need to get addresses!!! E-mails and ideas.
We'll need lots of help and hopefully the planning can be part of the fun. I know I enjoyed our first meeting last year at David Danuser's house.
I plan on contacting Jenny Frame Rice about helping to get a Kansas City/ Lee's Summit group started. ALso, some from the class of '72 have asked if they can get in our our reunion since they don't have one. That could add to the fun but it means more work getting names, addresses and e-mails.

Yikes - HELP is needed

Please feel free to comment on this blog. If you don't have a google account you might have to register but it's free so jump in. It would be great to get some conversations started on here.
Thanks.
Hope to see you all in 2011.
